EPCON Sign was established in 1928, in Seattle, WA and was traded at the Stock Exchange under Dart Industries. In 1976, the company, which covered the entire western part of the US, was bought and branches were sold to competitors- except for four states (MT, WY, ND, SD). This was bought by James Thelen, who was the regional vice president at the time. It has been owned and operated by his sons since 1976. EPCON specializes in Hospitals, schools, banks, restaurants, casinos and Government exterior and interior signage, but prides itself in servicing small business, not only in the larger cities, but the rural communities; often overlooked by most companies. EPCON has partnered with Daktronics since the early 1980's and have installed everything from Time and Temperature units to large stadium message centers, message centers for small businesses and chains of banks, hospitals and school systems. EPCON's marketing strategy has for the most part been B to B, word of mouth, cold calling and servicing existing customers. The process starts with the salespeople, then the designer envisions what the client needs, even develops logos if there isn't one. Being a full-service sign company in Montana and surrounding states due to the size of the territory is a challenge, but one we have been able to service with carefully planned schedule. In the late 1990's, EPCON expanded into interior signage including ADA. EPCON has been excited with the new technology that Daktronics has been offering over the years and looks forward to working with them for years to come.
EPCON Sign Group is a full service manufacturing Sign Company servicing the six state area since 1928. EPCON has an award winning design team that specializes in logo design and three manufacturing plants with over 23,000 square feet with state of the art equipment. EPCON offers manufacturing, installation and maintenance contracts, with financing available. EPCON has been and always will be the leader in cutting edge design and manufacturing-and has “A BRIGHTER IDEA”.From national firms to mom and pop organizations, EPCON has prided itself in customer satisfaction-no sign project is too small or too large for the leader in Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota.
EPCON has several awards from Sign of the Times magazine, notably the Sign Gallery edition of “The Worlds Best Signs” with two designs. ISA (International Sign Association) has awarded EPCON several times with one of the best entries.
